Big Title
Danspiration
In June 2023, our Danspiration Project was voted one of the winners of the National Lottery's People's Projects.

Danspiration provides inclusive dance workshops for people of all ages, abilities and cultures. The project was inspired and led by the people who use our services. We use dance and movement to bring people together from across the community. Our aim is for participants to enjoy dance, make new friends, and lead a more healthy and active lifestyle.

The project was funded up until August 2024 and workshops were free, thanks to the National Lottery investment. In November 2024, we were successful in receiving further funding from the National Lottery via Sport England. It means that we can continue to employ a Dance Leader and Project Co-ordinator over 12 months, to enable our students to provide 96 workshops to around 16 community groups, care homes and social care organsations across the borough.
In the first year, our dance workshops were a big hit across Wigan and Leigh. We reached over 600 people of all ages and abilities in over 100 sessions. And a significant outcome of the project was that 16 of our students gained a Level 1 Dance Leader award from the Leadership Skills Foundation.
Dance Leader Nichola O'Brien will continue to work with students to keep them skilled up in facilitating the sessions, and local arts project manager Martin Green will organise all the logistics of the project.
It's fabulous news for our students and the community!
